Entering the third and final year of studies at Brunel University there is now a highly professional attitude towards lectures, lab sessions and seminars. People have begun to refine their skills, not only in their chosen area of study, but also with timekeeping, reading around the subject and becoming involved on discussion points.
Or not.
We only have twelve hours of instructed tuition per week, split over three modules chosen from a possible eight, and just two hours of compulsory lectures. It is expected that people will 'shop around' for the first couple of weeks to find out which subjects they think they'll want to study for the rest of the year, and eventually choose three. However I have already come across people who have ignored all logical reason and simply chosen the options that give them the most days off during the week. I find this unbelievable! It means that they will most likely end up studying a subject that they have no knowledge about, have no interest in, and will possibly fail. I think that we should now be at the point where our chosen topics of study are more important than the number of days we can take off. After all, the results from this year will stay with us for the rest of our lives.

I would hope that having spent three years, several thousand pounds and the last year working in the 'multimedia' industy that more than 30% would still be interested. However, some people never cease to surprise me :-)

Well yeah, you would hope that everyone doing the course in the first place would be deeply into multimedia. To so many people however, it's just a degree.

I agree with James. People wouldn't spend 3-4 years of their lives studying multimedia if they weren't interested in it. If it was 'just a degree' why devote so much time to a course you're not interested in?

But how many people on the course actually care about multimedia? Thirty percent maybe?
