JD~Works

After a couple of good nights out in San Diego we got back into the car and drove north to San Luis Obispo for a quick overnight stop. The next day we got onto Route One and headed North for a days ride. Arrived in Santa Cruz in the late afternoon, and managed to catch up with a friend who we had met a couple of days earlier. Stayed at their house overnight, and also managed to get out on the town for the evening to a few bars which turned out to be a good laugh.

Back in the car again for the final time and on to Milpitas which will be our last stop. Spend the day out in nearby San Francisco, visiting the Coit Tower, Union Square, Pier 39 and the steepest road in the world on Lombard Street. Out for a fairly heavy night on Saturday, but since then have been chilling out at 'home'.

We are fortunate enough to be staying with a pilot who regularly flies over the San Francisco Bay area, so this afternoon took a couple of hours to fly over the city at 1500 feet, giving us some spectacular views of the Bay Bridge and the town. I'll post some photos when I have more time.

Over the next couple of days we will be doing more of the same kind of thing: relaxing and preparing for our flight back to the UK on Thursday. Will be back in London at 6:15am on Friday 26th August.

For me this is almost the end of an era. I have been in America for around thirteen months and I can honestly say I think its been the best year of my life. I'll leave with some incredible memories, and will never forget the people who I have been fortunate to come to know. I am especially grateful to everyone at Electronic Ink and Pixelworthy, and to those at Temple and Drexel University's... you know who you are. I may even see you all again soon :-)

Normal service will resume when I am back in the UK: full report of the road trip, including photos to come.

Hey James - I was just in San Francisco for the Blog Business Summit. Shame we missed each other. Sounds like you've had a great time. And thanks for the kind words about your coworkers. :)
