Another quick update - I will write up the full trip when I'm home.
We've now actually driven coast to coast and a total of just under four and a half thousand miles. Austin was incredible - had an excellent night out there on 6th Street, visiting pubs and bars such as the Blind Pig Pub and Darwin bar.
After this we got back in the car for a couple of days, covering the distance to Amarillo and then on to the national parks around the Grand Canyon. We spend a couple of days here exploring the desert and taking a look at Bryce Canyon, offering some stunning scenery.
Next up we drove to Las Vegas and spent a couple of days there, the highlight for me winning $7.50 on a slot machine, paid all in 5c coins! Having literally spent ALL our money in Vegas we got back into the car and drove to the West rim of the Grand Canyon to take in the scenery, before arriving in Los Angles late last night.
Next up we driving North along Route 1, and should be in San Francisco in just over a week.

It sounds like you guys are having an absolutely marvelous time. Say hi to those Hollywood-types in LA (watch your back, though - they swoon over nice British boys like yourselves) and be safe. Miss you, and hope you're not getting too bitten up by mosquitos.
