JD~Works

So after one year of internship, my time with Electronic Ink/Pixelworthy has today come to an end. I started working for the company in August 2004, and forty eight weeks later feel like a different person... I have developed on so many levels that it would be impossible to list them all here.

Being surrounded by designers, technologists and usability experts all day has massively improved my web development skills, and given me an insight into the hugely important human computer interaction process that occurs when a person uses a website. I now feel confident at designing and developing sites that are both functional, beautiful and most importantly, accessible.

There have been highs and lows throughout the year, some of the good times including drinks around New Year's Eve, snowball fights in various bars, sunbathing in Rittenhouse Square, and countless nights out 'on the town'! Most importantly I've enjoyed meeting all kinds of people from various walks of life, all of whom I will remember for many years to come.

I would like to thank all the staff at Electronic Ink for many things, including treating me so well over the year, showing me what Philadelphia has to offer, and for teaching me many skills that I know will be useful in the next stages of my career.

Next up for me is my road trip across the States, then back to the UK at the end of August, and starting back at University in October.

I hope to remain in touch with many of the people I have come to know here, and I may even see you all again in the very near future.

Ah, New Year's Eve. I'll never let you live down the number of times that you hit that stupid joke kid in the face with ping pong balls.
